About Us
REGION 1 YOUTH COUNCIL
MISSION
The mission of the Region 1 Youth Council is to provide leadership opportunities for youth representatives from each county in the region, to train the youth representatives for more leadership opportunities; and to provide a Summit meeting to educate all youth in the region in matters most affecting youth to promote an informed generation.
The Beginning
The Region 1 Youth Council first met on August 16, 2003. Interest for coming together as a regional council was determined by an evaluation question at the Annual Youth Leadership Summit. Local youth council members voiced an interest in being able to meet with other councils to plan the next youth leadership summit and to share ideas. The Region 1 Youth Council is supported by the Rome and Dalton Public Health Teen Center Programs and the regional Community Action Partners coalition.
